S4.2.1 Older Lexus immobiliser system with separated immo box and Texas transponder (4D by Silca). Immobiliser box are located near to ignition key. Usually this is black or brown box marked “immobilizer” or “134.2 kHz”.






Remove immobiliser ECU from the car and open it. Find 93C66 EEPROM in DIP package. Use A5 or A4 adapter and follow CarProg instruction to program transponder key. Short quartz resonator for in-circuit EEPROM programming or remove 93C66 from immobiliser board.






S4.2.2 Lexus immobiliser system with transponder antenna and AMP unit on the ignition key and motor ECU. Used in 1999 – 2003 Lexus cars.



Transponder information is stored in motor ECU. Remove motor ECU from the car, open it and find 93C56 EEPROM marked IC900
Use A6 or A4 adapter and follow CarProg instruction to program transponder key. Short quartz resonator for in-circuit EEPROM programming or remove 93C56 from ECU board.
S4.2.3 New Lexus cars with Texas Crypto transponder (4D by Silca). Transponder key is stored in separated immobiliser unit marked “ECU IMMOBILIZER”. Remove immobiliser ECU from the car, open it and find 93LC66 SMD EEPROM.






Use only original factory key. With Silca 4D transponder car will not start.
Use A6 or A4 adapter and follow CarProg instruction to program transponder key.
Short quartz resonator for in-circuit EEPROM programming or remove 93C66 from immobiliser board.

Using these pictures you can erase airbag “on the table” – you must connect GND, +12V,
and Diagnostic line between airbag sensor and BMW Airbag Eraser, connect power supply to GND
and +12V and use Eraser like in the car. After erasing don’t connect power supply again – BMW
airbag sensor is very sensitive and can write “controller malfunction” error after connection on the
table without car.

Step by step to repair your ECU

Someone great once said, “Necessity is the mother of all invention” (Plato). Well, I don’t claim to be Plato, but I do have the High Honors of possessing “Necessity”. That brings me to my point.
While Dad and I were working on this 1988 YJ project, we developed “necessity”. The Jeep was purchased with a suspect computer and wiring problem and in a non running condition. An eBay Wiring harness and ECU Chip Tunning tool made short work of that “no run state” and the project rolled on.
I would like to share what I found and what was done to REPAIR the ECU. If only one person can gain from this experience, I would feel like our blessing could be passed along to another in need.
First the basics: 1989 YJ, 2.5 4 Cylinder, Throttle Body Injection, Manual 5 speed.
Failure Symptoms: Fuel Pump Runs continuously with key turned from Off to ON position, No Spark, No Fuel Pulse at TB Injector.
ECU’s – common Part No. EF8953005023 (and the Renix 9-2099)
Renix (Remanufactured; original unit in Jeep, a non running purchase)
Bendix (eBay + Harness, worked when installed. Until…)
Siemens X2, (eBay purchase, seller sent two “just in case”. Both NOGO)
And I suppose a disclaimer is needed for those fool hearty enough not to realize if all goes well, they will be repairing a component that in not supposed to be repairable. Follow These Directions At your Own Risk; I am not responsible for what you do to your Jeep. …sorry
Early in the troubleshooting process I became fully convinced that the ECU was the point of failure. I eventually wound up having 4 ECU’s in hand and with nothing else to loose, coupled with the fact of being too stubborn to pay retail for a New Computer just to put it in and possibly toast it, (read no return on electrical parts) I had to go with my gut and crack them open.

Volvo MC9S12DP128/MC9S12DP256 MCU can both read by Xprog and Carprog. Check pinout below:

Read MC9S12DP128/MC9S12DP256 with Xprog (V5.3 for example or higher version V5.0, V5.50 etc)

You have to read Motorola MC9S12DP256 and MC9S12DP128. Both of them have EEPROM and FLASH.
